Interactive Window Displays

Our team created and installed a series of interactive window displays for nineteen small businesses in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. We designed displays for three separate projects, each with lights, buttons, knobs, sliders, and gears to engage and captivate customers. In response to the COVID pandemic, we created a mobile-friendly website to allow players to interact with the displays safely. Some of the window presentations stood alone, while others linked across multiple storefronts through sequential puzzles and a unified storyline.

Over three years of operation, our window displays brought over a thousand visitors to host stores with minimal maintenance and no operating costs. The experience was featured by local media outlets: Concentrate, Local 4, The Communicator.

Memorial Wall

Temple Israel

Columbus, Ohio

The Memorial Wall is a celebration of the congregants of the Temple Israel synagogue who have passed. Our team implemented a tasteful modern interpretation of the visitation stone ritual to allow congregants to remember and honor their loved ones. The names of those passed are stored securely on a local server, and the installation includes a kiosk to access, update, and add to the list of those passed.

Our team was brought onto the project after a partial design had been completed, and we cut the cost of the installation hardware in half. With the help of more modern technologies, we implemented several features beyond the original scope of work while remaining inside the budget.

Mattress Store Kiosk

Nectar Mattress

The Mattress Store Kiosk is a retail experience created for Nectar Mattress that is deployed in furniture stores across the globe. Our team designed, built, and programmed a low-cost solution for highlighting individual mattresses in Nectar's retail stores. We tested the system to ensure reliability across store configurations, and we implemented client feedback within the tight delivery schedule.

Once complete, we documented our design and assembly process and passed the completed design to our partner, Bluewater Technologies, to produce the design at scale.

Drive-In Adventure

Decode Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor, Michigan

Decode's Drive-In Adventure is a multimedia game that players interact with from the safety of their vehicle. Players park their vehicle and use two mobile phones collaboratively to solve challenges and advance the story. Sound for the game is provided over the car radio, and the game features smoke effects and a 12-foot-tall projection-mapped display. Our team created and produced the game on a two month timeline with a limited budget, yet customer reviews indicate that the Drive-In Adventure exceeds every expectation.

The game was featured as an outstanding innovation in the escape room industry.

The Aurora Society

Ypsilanti, Michigan

The Aurora Society is an award-winning hour-long themed adventure. Our team originated the concept, created the challenges and game mechanics, designed custom control software and hardware, and managed operation of the venue with custom ticketing and flow control of simultaneous groups.

The game was built over the course of ten months by a team of twenty (including regular staff and hired consultants), and it was installed as part of a $500k renovation of a 19th century building in the heart of downtown Ypsilanti. During its first year of operation, it was voted the second best in the country by USA Today, and won several awards from reviewers and international bodies.

Finale Puzzle

Swain Resort

Swain, New York

The Finale Puzzle for Swain Resort forms the conclusion of their escape room experience. The resort came to our team with a problem: their game was five minutes too short and lacked a dramatic finale. However, there wasn't enough room in the budget to visit the site or ship a large construction to their location.

We worked with the management team at the resort to design a puzzle that they could build and assemble onsite, and we cut custom brass faceplates for the puzzle to bring the steampunk theme to life. The result was an integrated ending that provided a satisfying conclusion for players.
